P572, la petite compagnie de disque inventée par Sam Murdock et Sébastien Leduc en 2004, a 15 ans cette année. Après 85 disques et plus de 800 spectacles à travers le monde, c’est toujours aussi fou, étrange et expérimental. P572 vogue à sa propre vitesse sans essayer de rivaliser avec quiconque. La musique avant le marketing, le contenu avant le profit, l’éthique devant la stratégie. Un peu plus tard dans l’année, il devrait y avoir un livre photo commémoratif. On va aussi mettre aux enchères des tests pressing d’albums rares. Mais en attendant voici sur quoi on travaillait cet hiver.
Oromocto Diamond est en tournée au Japon avec un 7 ’’ vinyle pour l’anniversaire du légendaire Don Matsuo, le leader des Zoobombs. Ensuite, c’est une tournée Euro avec un nouvel album qui s’appelle Entertainment. Darlène, l’opéra postmoderne d’Hubert Lenoir, sorti il y a un an, est déjà un classique et sera réédité en vinyle super deluxe grâce à une collaboration inattendue entre Simone Records et P572. Woo! La 13e parution de Headache24 s’intitule M for Love. C’est une collection de chansons méchantes et illuminées, bientôt disponible sur LP et K7 en vente pendant la tournée de mai avec HotKid. Headache24 est le deuxième plus vieux groupe P572 après (swedish) Death Polka. P572, the small record label started by Sam Murdock and Sébastien Leduc in 2004 is turning 15 this year. 85 records later, almost 900 shows all over the world and it is still fun, weird and experimental. P572 has its own speed and it’s always been like that. Not trying to compete with anyone, but making our own small yet important colorful path while collaborating with some of the most amazing artists. Music over marketing, content over profit, ethic over strategy. We’ll have time to reflect later with a commemorative book. We are available to talk about the memories and the importance of all the friends and bands we’ve worked with since the beginning. But now it’s spring time.
In short this is what it will be about. Oromocto Diamond is going on tour in Japan with a special 7’’ vinyl for Don Matsuo’s birthday. Then it’s a Euro tour with a new single sided vinyl full length called Entertainment. Headache24 13th release is called M for love. It’s a well rehearsed upbeat collection of songs. Soon available on LP and K7 at the merch table while on tour with HotKid this spring. They are the second oldest band on P572 after (swedish) Death Polka. C’est déjà la fin de 2018. 12 mois de bricolage, de découvertes musicales et de grandes idées. C’était étrange, intense et expérimental. Comme d’habitude, à la vitesse de croisière no stress de P572, sans essayer de rivaliser avec quiconque, mais en créant quelque chose d’important avec les amis.
De quoi on se souvient en 2018? Oromocto Diamond a fait 16 shows en 16 jours en tournée Euro Solo Tour. Ensuite, il y a eu l’enregistrement de la session live du Quebec Social Club. Après deux ans de design et de douane, le vinyle holographique d’Alaclair Ensemble est enfin sorti, en collaboration avec 7ieme Ciel. Lesbo Vrouven était en tournée cet automne, pour jouer des nouvelles chansons et celles de l’édition vinyle d’Encore la mort. Son prochain disque s’appellera D _ _ _ _ G _ _ _ D _ _ _ _ _ . La Team Pochette (Sam Murdock et Gab Pelletier) a passé toute l’année sur le visuel d’albums d’artistes incroyables comme Claude Bégin, Koriass et Jérôme 50. Sans oublier quelques parutions digitales bizarres et quelques cartes postales sur Punkest Tardo et Mutefakemusic.
En 2019, ce sera les 15 ans de P572, la petite compagnie de disque de Limoilou. On va fouiller dans les archives et les souvenirs pour faire un livre. On va aussi mettre aux enchères des tests pressing et des trucs rares. Et comme si ce n’était pas assez magique, il y aura de la nouvelle musique de la part de Headache24, Lesbo Vrouven, Oromocto Diamond, L’orchestre d’hommes-orchestres, Fourche, Rotting Ebitan, Vice & V.I.Street, Recyclage, (swedish) Death Polka, Billy Wilf…

Here are some of our 2018 highlights: There were the 16 shows in 16 days on the Euro Solo Tour for Oromocto Diamond. Then the Pantoum Quebec Social Club live recording session. After spending two years on the design we finally put together, in collaboration with 7ième Ciel, the holographic Alaclair Ensemble deluxe double LP. Lesbo Vrouven was on tour in the fall playing new songs and celebrating the vinyl release of their 2008 LP Encore la mort. Their new album will be called D _ _ _ _ G _ _ _ D _ _ _ _ _ . Team Pochette (Sam Murdock + Gab Pelletier) were busy all year long creating album art for many wonderful artists like Claude Bégin, Koriass and Jérôme 50. There were also some low key, but no less special, postcard and digital releases on Mutefakemusic and Punkest Tardo.
2019 will be the 15th year of the small independent label that is P572. We will be digging deep into the archives to make a book, and to find some rare items and test pressings for auction. You will also hear new music from the likes of Headache24, Lesbo Vrouven, Oromocto Diamond, L’orchestre d’hommes-orchestres, Fourche, Rotting Ebitan, Vice & V.I.Street, Recyclage, (swedish) Death Polka, Billy Wilf, amongst others…
